HNU defeated in double overtime

Heartbreak today as the Holy Names University Hawks lost in double overtime to Hawaii Pacific University. HPU out shot the Hawks 16-7 in a thrilling match.

It was HPU who was first to top of the scoreboard in the 35th minute of the match. Yev Skelev was assisted by Jimmy Baggett who scored from the top of the 18. HNU's senior, Rasmus Larsson returned fire scoring of a penalty kick in the 51st to end the half at one up.

Both teams entered the 2nd half ready to claim victory. Once again, HPU grabbed the reins as Heimana Chen headed the ball into the goal off a free kick by Guillem Marin. Mirroring the first half, HNU again found a foul and sent Larsson to the line. He claimed the space between the goalkeeper and the net knotting the score at two.

Throughout the first and second overtime the ball passed back and forth from keeper to keeper like a ping pong match before HPU put it to an end. Marian scored off a free kick in the 109th minute.

Holy Names will end their first season in the Pacific West Conference with a record of 7-10-1.
